Skills are reusable tools that help AI Chat follow a specific workflow or complete a specific type of task more consistently.
Instead of explaining the same instructions every time, you can create or select a skill that already knows what kind of task you want to complete. Skills can include instructions, examples, files, or even code that help the chat to perform a task in a more reliable and repeatable way.
For example, you can use skills to help with:
Creating video highlights from a longer video or audio file
Generating images from a prompt
Creating video clips with a specific style, format, or duration
Following a specific editing workflow
Summarizing content in a consistent format
Reusing company or team instructions
How to Access Skills
You can access skills from the AI Chat input area.
To open skills:
Open AI Chat.
Click the + button next to the chat box or by simply typing / (slash) symbol.
Select Skills.
Choose an existing skill from the list, or click Add a new skill.
Existing skills are:
video-highlights - Used to extract highlights, key moments, or a summary reel from a video or audio file.
image-generation -Used to generate still images with guidance around prompts, aspect ratio, and resolution.
video-generation -Used to generate video clips with guidance around motion, duration, FPS, aspect ratio, and other settings.
product-UI-functionality-guide -Used to help explain product features, UI behavior, and how different tools or settings work inside the platform.
audio-generation -Used to help generate audio content, such as voice, narration, sound-based content, or audio assets depending on the available generation tools.
auto-multi-camera-editing -Used to automatically edit multi-speaker videos, especially recordings where two or more people were captured on separate camera tracks. This skill can help create a polished multi-camera edit by switching between speakers or camera angles more efficiently.
How to Use a Skill
Once you select a skill, AI Chat will use that skill’s instructions to help complete your request.
For example, if you select a video-highlights skill, you can ask:
“Create a short highlight reel from this video.”
If you select an image-generation skill, you can ask:
“Create a thumbnail image in a clean, modern style.”
If you select a video-generation skill, you can ask:
“Generate a short vertical video with soft movement and golden hour lighting.”
The skill gives AI Chat extra guidance so it can better understand the type of output you want.
How to Create a New Skill
You can also create your own skill by clicking Add a new skill.
When creating a skill, think about tasks you repeat often. A good skill should have a clear purpose and simple instructions.
For example, you could create skills for:
Turning long videos into social media clips
Creating branded captions or titles
Generating podcast episode summaries
Applying your preferred video editing style
Creating thumbnails in your brand style
Writing descriptions or show notes in a specific format
Tips for Creating a Good Skill
When creating a skill, be specific about what you want it to do.
A helpful skill should include:
What the skill is for
When it should be used
What kind of input it needs
What kind of output it should create
Any style, format, or brand preferences it should follow
For example:
“Use this skill to create short social media clips from long podcast videos. Find the most engaging moments, keep clips under 60 seconds, use a casual tone for captions, and format the output for vertical video.”
The clearer your instructions are, the better the skill will perform.
