AI Chat lets you edit your video by simply typing what you want to change. Instead of navigating menus, you can describe your edit in plain language, and the editor will apply it automatically.
You can use AI Chat to make quick edits, apply AI effects, generate content, and refine your project directly inside the Video Editor.
Examples:
“Split this clip at 0:15”
“Increase brightness and reduce noise”
“Add a title that says ‘Welcome’”
“Remove the background”
“Apply Magic Dust to this clip”
“Make the text larger and move it higher”
How to use AI Chat:
1. Open a new project
Create a new project and open it in the Video Editor. The AI Chat panel will appear automatically.
Please note that AI Chat is currently available only for newly created projects.
2. Choose a chat model
AI Chat includes multiple Claude models. You can choose the model you want to use based on how you’d like it to work, or you can leave it set to Auto.
When set to Auto, AI Chat will automatically select the best model for your request.
Here are some examples of the models:
Haiku has the lowest cost and is best for fast, simple generation. It is not recommended for editing tasks.
Sonnet has a mid-range cost and is best for tasks that involve both editing and generation.
Opus is the most expensive model and is best for more complex tasks, longer content, or requests that include multiple steps.
3. Select a mode: Act or Ask
AI Chat has two modes:
Act mode applies changes directly without double-checking first. This is useful when you already know what you want and want the editor to complete the task quickly.
Ask mode asks follow-up questions before making changes. This is helpful when your request needs more detail or when you want to confirm the edit before it is applied.
4. Type your request
Describe the edit you want to make in plain language. For example, you can ask AI Chat to:
Adjust video color or brightness
Split, trim, or move clips
Add text or titles
Apply AI effects like Magic Dust, background removal, eye contact fix, AI zoom, or cinematic blur
Make audio adjustments
Help organize or improve your project
5. Review generated content in the sidebar
Any content generated during your AI Chat session will appear in the right-side panel next to the chat. This makes it easier to review everything you have created or generated during that session.
You can close this sidebar at any time if you want more space in the editor.
6. Review and refine your edits
Changes will apply in the editor. You can continue sending follow-up messages to refine the result.
For example:
“Make it brighter”
“Move the title higher”
“Try a different style”
“Undo that change”
“Make the background blur softer”
Once you’re happy with the result, you can export your video.
